Cavan Sullivan: The youngest athlete to debut as a professional in the US history

The name of Cavan Sullivan is already inscribed in the history of sport. On a memorable night, Sullivan became the youngest athlete to debut in any of the North American professional leagues (MLS, MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, NWSL) with alone 14 years and 293 days. The young Philadelphia Union footballer played a few minutes in the match against the New England Revolution, which ended with a resounding victory for 5-1 Philadelphia steam.

Cavan Sullivan entered the field in the minute 85, receiving a standing ovation from the stadium and establishing an unprecedented precocity record in the professional leagues of the United States. In the MLS, surpassed the famous mark Freddy Adu (which we have already talked to you about before) for just 13 days, a milestone that underlines his incredible talent and potential.

Adu, who debuted at 14 years and 306 days, He was considered a great promise after his signing for Benfica in 2007, but never reached the expected heights. He became one of those great talents that were going to be stars but they did not meet expectations.

Now, Cavan Sullivan leads the list of the youngest footballers to debut in the MLS, followed by Adu, Julian Hall (15 years and 190 days), Alphonso Davies (15 years and 257 days) y Axel Kei (15 years and 288 days).

City has already got their hands on him

Although he has just started his professional career, Sullivan's future is already assured. a few months ago, Manchester City went ahead and signed the young prodigy, recognizing his potential to become a soccer star. “I always watch Manchester City! They are like every child's dream team.. I sat down with my family and my agents and we decided it was the best plan for me to join City”, Sullivan declared in an interview with ESPN in May. Although the agreement is closed, Sullivan will not join City until he comes of age in 2027.
