Greek football is still in clear decline. THE HELENO COUNTRY LEAGUE, has been suspended in its main categories this weekend due to the aggression of a referee last week. The Greek Football Federation, decided to take this forceful measure when it did not find sufficient measures to guarantee the safety of its members. However, the matter far from ending there, has gone further. The presidents of the clubs have begun to cross accusations of fixing.
The fire has reached the leaders of the Greek Super League which has ended with the resignation of the president and vice president. It all started with the aggression of Jristoforos Zografos, ex- referee and now member of the Greek professional football referee commission who was assaulted by two unknown men on the night of 14 November and continued with the arrival of a FIFA commission and an Interpol investigation into four matches played in the Greek first division.
not long ago, AEK Athens, one of the greatest and most successful of the Hellenic country, was relegated to the third category of Greek football after a series of violent acts by its fans and for not being able to pay a debt of 170 million euros demonstrating that Greek football lives in a crisis parallel to that of the country.
