Monaco declares war on the French League

Last update 5 May, 2013 por Julio Muñoz

War has broken out in France, a less contextualized war than the previous ones but that in itself can be considered as such. due to the conflict between AS Monaco and La Ligue 1. El Mónaco, The only club in the history of French football that plays its matches in a country other than its natural one received a letter several months ago in which the French federation clearly explained its transfer of headquarters to France. The main reason for this transfer was the unification of the Ligue 1, without having to make excessive border trips, since if the Monaco ascended, cities like Gaillard -Where Évian plays- or the islands of Corsica -Bastia/Ajaccio- they would have to make a long and expensive trip to the principality.

Bien. That was the first option that the French federation had proposed to the club, but several days ago the federation itself explained that if Monaco wanted to continue playing their matches in the principality, should pay the exaggerated amount of 200 millions of euros. Clear, that this amount of money can be a kind of 'revenge' towards Monaco, in which its owner, Dimitri Rybolovlev is one of the 100 richest people on the planet, and having so much economic potential this person, The federation is not stupid and has wanted to take advantage of this situation to squeeze as much money as possible.

If Monaco was not very amused by the first option of moving its headquarters to France, imagine this second option. In the morning of 5 de mayo, the club offered a blunt statement on its website. On President, Mr. Le Graet commented that they were not willing to pay a penny to continue playing in their stadium, something they have been doing since 1919. They also comment that they are a model club in France and that they have never had problems with the federation. Perhaps the most authoritative note in the statement was in which they explain that they will take legal retaliation against the French federation. The future of Monaco is uncertain, because if you can not reach an agreement with the directors of the Ligue 1 next season he could be unable to play the French championship, a rumor that was already speculated when he refused to change his headquarters to France. It was even rumored that he could play in Serie A -Denied the next day by its president-.

Nobody knows what will happen with Monaco, but right now, a día de hoy, he is more outside than inside to be able to play the next campaign in French football. What we know is that in Colgados por el Fútbol we will be attentive.
