disabled footballers: when the desire to excel is everything

Last update 4 April, 2014 by Alberto Llopis

Many times we see the joy of a team, a template for winning a major title. It is the reward for an effort that was worth. However, You do not need to win to get a reward, but simply participate. It may seem like a cliché, but there are some people for whom playing at the highest level and it is an achievement.

Footballers are disabled, People with a deficiency of some sort that develop an activity not seem like such inability. Although in the world of football, It is rare to meet disabled footballers, I must say that if there, he has been and probably will. We review some of the most notorious cases that should serve as an example of overcoming samples:

1- Hector “the one-armed” Castro. One of the biggest stars of Uruguay won the World 1930, Olympics 1928 and four Copa America. Con 13 years, an electric saw cut his right forearm. This was not an obstacle to become the star striker of the blue and a continuous nightmare for opponents.

2- Damir Desnica. Deaf and blind, He got to play with Rijeka UEFA Cup and even starring in a most curious scene at the Santiago Bernabeu to be expelled for protesting. Desnica could not hear or speak but still communicated through gestures with his peers as one integrated in the template.

3- Wilfried Hannes. German football legend that a tumor in his right eye caused him to lose sight in that eye when just a kid. However, Far from collapsing, was a big Borussia Moenchengladsbach, the team played in years 70 y 80 more of 200 official matches. He also played the World Cup in Spain 82 Germany in what is considered one of the greatest signs of improvement in the world of sport.

Hannes llegó a jugar el Mundial de España con Alemania.

4- José Castilho: of him and speak in Colgados for football in his day. He was born colorblind unable to identify colors, which caused problems to stop him white balls per night. However, this did not prevent him from being the head of Brazilian goalkeeper and Fluminense, team that played over 600 parties. For it off his colorblindness, Legend has it that enough of their problems on the left pinky, one day decided to amputate and keep playing without it.

5- Garrincha: lame player with the curved spine and mental deficiencies that led him to be constantly mocks his fellow. Despite everything, which follows, gets it. His clumsiness became skill in a field. Garrincha confused everyone, including him.

Garrincha tenía problemas en la columna y cojeaba ostensiblemente.
Garrincha had problems in the spine and was limping visibly.

Of course, These cases are just a few of the most notorious, but there are many more serious and delicate playing soccer and here are our tribute.
