Spain beats Germany with a goal from Morata and gets into the semifinals of the European Sub 21

Last update 10 June, 2013 by Julio Muñoz

The Spanish U-21 team defeated Germany (0-1) this Sunday in the second match of group B of the European category, which was held in the Israeli city of Netanya, with a new goal from Álvaro Morata (after the target against Russia) four minutes from the end that puts Julen Lopetegui's men in the semifinals and in a position to play for first place against the Netherlands.

Without the presence of the Real Madrid forward in the starting eleven for the second consecutive game, Rodrigo once again led the 'Rojita' attack. Besides, with the entry of Koke for Muniain, The Spanish team was betting on having more control in the midfield. Meanwhile, German coach Rainer Adrion made up for Mlapa's loss due to injury with Clemens, and Volland acted as '9’ to the detriment of Lasogga.

With Spain taking the helm of the game, Koke warned six minutes into the game with a shot that did not find Leno's goal against a German team lacking lucidity and daring. Even so, Holtby gave the first scare after a free-kick that forced De Gea to work hard. Although the spark was lacking in attack, The Bavarians were brave in defense. Meanwhile, Spain missed the explosiveness of Tello and the self-confidence of Isco.

With Rudy acting as leader in the center of the field, Germany was gaining ground in a leaden duel with a lack of chances. However, Rodrigo had the best of the game around half an hour into the game, although he failed to finish after a flash from the Málaga player and a pinpoint assist.. Without taking the foot off the accelerator and in the subsequent play, Clemens almost scored the first after a strong shot that licked the left post of De Gea's goal before the break.

Morata appeared again

After the break, Spain recharged its batteries with a view to getting the three points and hunting down the Netherlands after its defeat against Russia (1-5). But to have options to be first in the group and not complicate life, victory was a mandatory goal. In front, There was a German team crouching and hardly giving up space in a confrontation of excellent fighting. With Volland not as effective as the duel against the tulips, Germany was waiting for any mistake from the rival to set up a counterattack that would unlevel the contest..

Fourteen minutes into the second act, Illarramendi took a square and bevel shot that almost surprised Leno. With Spain willing to open the can, Tello warned again immediately but his shot did not find its destination in the Teutonic goal.. five later, Julen Lopetegui's men had up to three opportunities in the same play but they lacked success in the face of so much madness and the German team almost took advantage of the counterattack to perfection if it were not for Montoya's success in defense.

Without much fortune, Rodrigo left the attack in the hands of Morata in a final stretch without respite and where the 'Rojita’ he put a new gear to his game. Meanwhile heyday, The debutant in the category had to appear again to score the first after a great individual play (0-1). It was his second goal in the tournament and a goal that once again gave Spain the victory after also scoring against Russia.. With this victory, Group B is jointly led by Holland and Spain, both with 6 points, and Germany and Russia say goodbye to the competition.
