The proclamation of Philip VI as the new king of Spain has meant to end 39 year reign of Don Juan Carlos I in intense political and social. However, beyond the socio-political, the figure of the former King and has also been linked to football, one of his favorite sports and has remained tight-knit.
There have been many times you have seen Don Juan Carlos go to soccer fields. The real Madrid, the Atlético, Barcelona or Getafe, They have been some of the sets that have been lucky enough to see already old King. But without any doubt, If anything has marked his reign have been three events. The first, the World Cup 1982, where I was fortunate enough to deliver the World Cup champion the great Dino Zoff. The second, the Olympic Games, where I was fortunate to see their country crowned for the first and only time Olympic champion.

The third and most important, the King's Cup. His proclamation as King marked the change of name of the competition again called that instead of Generalissimo Cup. Under his leadership they have played 38 editions, in which he has always delivered the cup least two occasions, where did his son Philip VI.
In that long period, we have seen his physical evolution and its different looks. Under its mandate, Barcelona won 9 titles by 6 Real Madrid or 5 of Atlético. Late as the “Water” between Valencia and Sports in 1994, Feud 1984 between Barcelona and Athletic they are already part of his legacy.

Throughout all these 39 years, King saw Spain win two European Championships, a World Cup and go from being a selection that fell in the quarterfinals assiduously to hold major tournaments consecutively. His Majesty leaves, curiously the same day he made his selection. A twist of fate.
