Newell’s Old Boys is one of the historical clubs in Argentina. Founded in 1903 by Claudio Newell, a British whose father Isaac introduced the leather ball in Argentina, Rosario's team is today one of the most famous teams in all of Argentina and South America. Champion under the baton of Tata Martino of the Final Tournament of 2013, in this last Initial we saw him fighting until the last day to conquer a championship that finally ended up in the hands of San Lorenzo.
Good results for a team that has six leagues and two Libertadores finals, but above all a spectacular cast of figures in its already centuries-old history. The place where Leo Messi began to take his first steps and one of the six teams where Maradona has played has been the home of Marcelo Bielsa (the man who gives the stadium its name), Jorge Valdano, Gabriel Omar Batistuta, Roberto Sensini and a long cast of stars to which many more have been added in recent months.

And it is that with the glittering transfer of Éver Banega (received between honors for the hobby), los “lepers” they are reaffirming a policy based on the hiring of old football glories, which however, it's working. In the current rosarina squad and already counting on Éver, are among others David Trezeguet (36 years), Gabriel Heinze (35), Diego Mateo (35), Lucas Bernardi (36 and the captain), Maxi Rodriguez (33) or Damián Manso (34).
Old rockers from the world of football with a long career in not a few teams and who are bringing a plus to Newell´s both on a sporting and social level. And it is that the arrival of all of them has placed the team on the covers of half the world due to the undoubted impact of these veterans.
In France, Italia, Spain or Mexico, all follow in some way the careers of these players and therefore of a directed team, paradoxes of life, for a novice, Alfredo Berti, 42 years and in his first experience as a coach. There is no doubt that Newell’s has not yet reached the repercussion of the Boca, River or Independent, but it seems that the road begins to smooth for when another one comes “gold retiree”, Leo Messi, who has already said on more than one occasion his desire to retire at the club of his beginnings.
