The Cincinatti Bengals are on the clock and the future of the franchise will be drafted in April. The Bengals are not the only team seeking a top collegiate player to overturn their fortunes. The Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, and Los Angeles Chargers have a lot riding on this year’s NFL Draft. Although the Bengals have the No. 1 overall pick, they could trade down and acquire other much-needed pieces. A lot can still unfold before April’s NFL Draft as teams prepare to change their futures. Which players will be the NFL Draft 2020 top 5 picks?

1. Joe Burrow – Cincinnati Bengals

Although quarterback Joe Burrow is considered the second-best prospect in the NFL Draft, he is as good as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals. Burrow led the LSU Tigers to the NCAA National Championship and the entire city of Cincinnati expects him to be wearing orange and black next season. Will the Bengals botch the No. 1 pick or will they select Burrow first overall?

2. Chase Young – Washington Redskins

Chase Young is a versatile defensive player that can play as an end or outside linebacker. He is exactly what the Washington Redskins need on defense. The Redskins allowed 435 points and won just three games last season. Washington was ranked 27th in total defense and Young should make an immediate impact. Could the Bengals throw a spanner in the works and draft Young instead of Burrow? It would change everything for the Redskins.

3. Jeff Okudah – Detroit Lions

Some mock NFL Drafts have the Detroit Lions trading down and still geting Jeff Okudah. The Lions’ needs are on defense rather than on offense, so Ohio State’s Okudah is a perfect choice. Detroit’s pass defense ranked as the NFL’s worst in 2019 and an upgrade is desperately needed at cornerback. So, why do mock drafts have Detroit trading down? The Los Angeles Chargers and Miami Dolphins both needs a quarterback and the team with the best package could land the No. 3 pick and a new signal caller. It won’t affect the Lions’ selection of Okudah, however.

4. Andrew Thomas – New York Giants

The New York Giants are in desperate need of an offensive lineman. There are several players they could draft at No. 4 overall. Georgia’s Andrew Thomas would fill the need to improve the Giants’ running game. Some mock drafts have New York taking Alabama Crimson Tide player Jedrick Wills Jr in instead.

5. Tua Tagovailoa – Miami Dolphins

Will Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa fall to fifth in the first round? What if one of the teams drafting first through fourth take Tagovailoa and use him as trade bait? The Miami Dolphins are the likeliest to take Tagovailoa, but it will depend on whether or not the Chargers can trade up for the Alabama quarterback. Tagovailoa is coming off of hip surgery last November which is the reason the Bengals are likely to pick Burrows No. 1. The Alabama quarterback has the most talent of anyone in the draft but teams will be reluctant to select him due to the a potentially career altering hip injury.
