Atletico wins 2-0 Levante but loses Falcao by a muscle strain

Last update 20 January, 2013 por Julio Muñoz

A new victory at Vicente Calderón, signed by goals from Adrián López and Koke Resurrección, extended the unstoppable streak at Atlético de Madrid home, that he has won everything at home and that today he prevailed over Levante (2-0), on a favorable day, in which he placed eight points from Barcelona, leader. There are already seventeen official victories at his stadium this year and ten consecutive games without receiving a goal from his public. Undisputed data of the rojiblanco team, that equaled his best series of consecutive wins in the league at home, doce, got in the courses 1939-40 y 40-41, and he does not stop winning in his field.

Nor did he fail today against Levante, who endured 31 minutes with the goal to zero in the Vicente Calderón, but he never took the necessary step forward to question Atlético's reliability, which ended the crash with two bad news: the muscular injury of the Colombian Radamel Falcao, en el 57, and Gabi's fifth yellow card. The start of the game fulfilled the most predictable script. Atlético came out with force, in 45 seconds he was already planted in the rival area with danger and in two minutes he had launched two corner kicks, but, this time, his intensity at the start of the clash was not enough to accelerate the resolution of the duel against a defensive opponent.

Levante was clear from the first minute. He gave the weight of the game to the rojiblanco team, today with modifications in his eleven, looking for more depth with the inclusion of Uruguayan Cristian Rodríguez and Adrián López by Brazilian Diego Costa and Turkish Arda Turan, and with difficulties to penetrate the rival area. The whole Valencian team rejected it in the first half hour until the vision of the game of the Portuguese Tiago Mendes dismantled the defensive order of the visitors, with a perfect pass to Javi Manquillo's excellent clearance, that put her on the other side, where Adrián culminated with the Uruguayan Munúa already beaten. It was the minute 31 (1-0).

Levante did not alter his idea, which barely appeared above Courtois' goal. Entrusted to some backlash, at the speed of a lonely Martins, his best options came from Rubén's boots, always ready for shooting, but still too harmless to discuss Atlético's dominance.

Nor did he get it at the start of the second half, it was going well for Atlético, no worries, but with a setback: Radamel Falcao's injury. The Colombian received the ball in an uncheck, but a jerk stopped his career. Ovated by the stands, He was immediately replaced by Diego Costa. Atlético responded in the best way to the mishap.

Two minutes later, Koke connected a wall with the Brazilian battering ram and invented a wonderful shot, a thread that slipped into the square of the Munúa goal. The goal turned off any reaction from Levante, who only faked about the Courtois area, solvent in every action., already sentenced with half an hour ahead, followed the rhythm of the rojiblanco team, who had the third in a shot to the crossbar by Cristian Rodríguez, who is still untreatable in his field and who has not yet lost sight of Barcelona, to which he reduced three points, released in his unchanging safety at the Vicente Calderón.
