Victor Valdes, FC Barcelona goalkeeper, will not renew with the Barcelona club, as the player's representatives have communicated to the entity in a meeting held this afternoon. The goalkeeper will not renew his contract with his current team, that expires on 30 June 2014.
The notice, sent to the EFE agency by the representatives of Valdés, dice: “Víctor Valdés' agents have communicated to FC Barcelona in the meeting held this afternoon the irrevocable decision by the player not to renew his contract, thus avoiding entering into an assessment of economic issues”.
Last 3 January Víctor Valdés said that he does not rule out a change of scene and try “other cultures and another type of football” in the final stretch of his career.
When your current contract expires, Valdes will have 32 years and, as he himself pointed out, “Barça's goal is complicated in every way” and he already has “many years” enduring the pressure of defending it.
Víctor Valdés debuted at Barça in the season 2002- 2003 and alternated ownership with Roberto Bonano. His confirmation came in the following campaign and since then he has participated in the successes of the Barça club.
The footballers treasure, individually, five victories in the Zamora trophy, that accredit him as the goalkeeper with the fewest goals scored of the seasons 2004-05, 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11 y 2011-12.
Besides, He has been a World Cup and European champion with the Spanish team and with FC Barcelona he has won five league titles, three Champions Leagues, two Copas del Rey and twice the Club World Cup, among other hits.
