The Fall of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Last update 14 December, 2021 by Alberto Llopis

It's hard to believe this has happened, but after several weeks of games that did not meet expectations, finally Manchester United removed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. It is unlikely that there will be many annoyed fans about it, apart from the followers of the others 19 Premier League clubs. This year has represented a negative stage in the history of Manchester United, and there is no doubt that many of his fans breathed with relief when the news was announced, although it was not always this way. In fact, there was a time when Solskjaer was considered United's keeper for the way he brought the team's traditional offensive football back to Old Trafford. Considering this, How come it all went so wrong?

If we analyze Solskjaer's performance comprehensively, it is clear that the fans and finally the board of directors are fed up. The Norwegian has accumulated a total of zero titles to his name, along with too many defeats that a club like Manchester United simply shouldn't suffer. Solskjaer had his best chance last season during the Europa League final against Villarreal, whom he has coincidentally beaten in the Champions League. This was a match that would have silenced those who doubted Solskjaer and if he had won that championship, it is unlikely that the Solskjaer was in the position in which it was now seen. The vote of confidence that I would have given to the players would also have been tremendous. However, the night was very different and United were sent home with their tails between their legs.

At the beginning, many fans loved Solskjaer for giving offensive football back to United. Although Jose Mourinho was United's most successful coach after Sir Alex Ferguson, his style of play frustrated many fans. However, It seems that the followers need to hear the saying “Be careful what you wish for”, since they certainly received attacking football. But Solskjaer's performance can be characterized by the fact that his defense is as strong as a cup of coffee.. It is clear that the failure of the defense strategy, with the consequent loss of matches and the impossibility of winning titles, was what caused the removal of Solskjaer.

United are the 5th favorite to win the Premier League, a fact that is surprising if you take into account that it occupies the 8th position in the leaderboard. Fans will want to see sites like sinlicencia.org to play online casino games instead, as this United team is far from competing for any title. The legend of the club, Michael Carrick, took over as interim coach, until the arrival of Ralf Rangnick who already debuted with a draw against Young Boys in the Champions League.
